All in the best possible taste, Grayson Perry

What is taste? Taste is how a person chooses how to express themselves for example how they choose how they look and dress, how they decorate things and there homes, different things that they enjoy and find appealing. different class have different tastes however. culture is a thing we grow up with. different generations and different classes have a different culture, however it can all unite a group of people. Culture can bring people together and form bounds. Can doing up a car be art? is a difficult question as in a way yes it can because it is a way for people to express themselves which is like any other art form. however not many people see it and it can not be appreciated like a piece of art does. it does not have the same appeal to people. the reason i think people are more likely to spend £1000 on a tattoo than a painting or sculpture is because tattoos are fashionable and there popular they are a way for people to express themselves and show off where as a piece of art is a lot harder to show off and relate to. I think all art should be accessible because art can bring people together and display a message and i think everyone should have a chance to experience that. Class does have a effect on the short of art you make as culture ans taste in the different class are so different one a person will be exposed to and see will different this results in different out looks on life and have is relevant in art. Grayson Perry's methodology was very unique and interesting it aloud him to get a good perspective from each side and he was able two create two amazing tapestries because of this. Personally i really enjoy Kitsch art as it gives me a sense of nostalgia which i'm really fond off. I really enjoy film cameras and i like to experiment with them and document them. However this is the only historical context i see in my art.

Can anything be art? is a difficult question to answer because like Duchamp said anything can be art if made buy an artists but then what defines someone as an artists? I think anything can be art as long as its the artist expressing themselves or the art expressing a meaning or message. Duchamp's Readymades we so shocking in 1913 because the idea was so radical and new, no one hadn't ever done anything like that before and they made people question what is art. I think Duchamp's readymades are really interesting as something so simplistic and something made for a joke could inspire loads of people and make such an impact in the art world that people are still talking about it today and that Duchamp's work is still relevant today I don't think skill is very important in art and people use it and interpret art in many different ways.Should art make us think? Again another difficult question. Yes and no, as yes its interesting to figure out a meaning behind a piece of work or interpret it in your own way but its is also just as good to let the work be just that a piece of art. just let the work speak for itself. I quite enjoyed the idea of writing jokes and selling them for art as it is sarcastic and very dry humored, something i'm a big fan of its out of the norm. I really enjoyed Martin kippenberger's work, again very sarcastic and dry humored i really enjoyed how her was trying comment on the world buy using jokes and humor i also liked how he loved to disturb people with is art. I think the reason Piero Manzoni made them cans was to make a point and take the argument that anything can be art seriously and to an extreme. In my opinion the Fluxus' did have a point as we i think we do take art a bit to seriously and sometimes i thing its good to just make art for fun and there does not have to have a real meaning behind it. The art movement i most closely identify with is fluxus and i like how they dont take art seriously and its about the process then the final out come. this is one of the reasons i enjoy art.
